Search engine marketing to jump in 2005According to Forrester Research, search engine marketing is set to generate €1.4 billion of spending in Europe this year – an increase of 65% on 2004 and to rise to almost €3 billion by 2010. Growing numbers of on-line shoppers, on-line advertising budgets, and pay-for-performance search marketing models will attract both small as well as large firms. The growing trend of industry players moving beyond search engines to forms of on-line marketing that blend display ads and sponsored keyword listings, is also likely to increase in Europe. Search engines will respond, for example, using personalised search marketing linked to e-mail conversations and content page viewing histories; comparison search engines and vertical search; and video-based search for branding purposes.
