MSN.com Dumps Yahoo in Favour of Own Search Engine.
The war of the search engines has dramatically intensified. Search engine
results pages from Microsoft's www.MSN.com are now being provided by the
MSN Search (beta) search engine instead of by Yahoo.
If Microsoft has created such a great search engine, is it destined to
become the dominant search destination, and are Google and Yahoo in for
some formidable competition? Microsoft can certainly outspend them and
use leverage from its dominance in parallel markets. MSN will need to
get its advertising model right however to ensure that Search Engine Optimisation
(SEO) companies use advertising media on MSN.com rather than, for example,
Google Adwords to drive business for their clients.
Ultimately, the war of the search engines may boil down to a popularity
contest.
