Lets talk about Links.
In this article, Bill Hartzer reinforces the importance of links, both
incoming and outgoing, when trying to get your website to rank well in
search engines.
In order to get links to your website, he suggests submitting your website
to the appropriate categories in the major directories like DMOZ.org,
the Yahoo! Directory, and even Business.com as well as to more specific
topic-related directories, such as an “automobile directory”
if you site is about cars.
A list of about 40 possible searches is given in order to find links.
He also discusses how various search engines deal with links to websites
from guestbooks and blogs.
At most search engines, you can check the links that a website (or URL,
for that matter) has going to it, known as 'checking the backlinks' to
a website. The new MSN Search engine at http://search.msn.com
provides the most accurate view of a website’s backlinks.
