Does W3C validation help in search ranking?
Human visitors need clear, easy-to-understand content and navigation
on web pages; search engine robots need that same kind of clarity. While
validation is in no way a guarantee of high search engine rankings, it’s
hard to deny the process has merit, if only for an increased understanding
of web semantics.
Validation is not currently a big issue for the 2 largest search engines,
Google and Yahoo!, both of which require corrections to achieve validation.
However, as website accessibility legislation may come into force in the
future, it is time to engage with accessibility concerns although the
W3C tool is not the only option available.
