Google's Ageing Delay for New Sites.
In this article, Scottie Claiborne, deals with the worries of site owners
that their new sites that rank well in Yahoo and MSN, aren't doing well
in Google.
She discounts the theory that new sites are somehow being penalized for
obtaining too many links, too quickly and suggests there may be an ageing
delay, set up by Google to counter multi-site strategies such as dividing
a site into multiple sites to artificially inflate link popularity.
There seems to be a delay of 6-8 months before a site achieves any real
results in Google.
Several strategies are given to cope with this problem by planning ahead,
for example, by getting the first few pages up for a new site as soon
as they are ready, building a site on a subdomain rather than a new top-level
domain name, and focusing early efforts on Yahoo and MSN which do not
have this in-built delay.
